I was so close to opening an HSBC online savings account until this evening when I found out that Emigrant Direct had boosted their interest rate to 5.0%. This should prove convenient since we already have an account with them.
This, coupled with an NFCU 6.25% @ 18months/$15k min CD appears to be a good combination.

This is probably the third time I have read about Emigrant Direct and their great savings account rates online. I will look into opening my own account. Their rate certainly beats out my bank. It seems online banking is turning into the next generation banking. Let's see in ten years how many brick and mortor banks are still around.
